At it again!
I gave the excuse of "finding a good deal" to get us to an island we haven't yet been to. I'll actually use any excuse to get my husband to travel with me. I used Luxury Link AGAIN to find us the perfect place to stay for our 6th wedding anniversary. We stayed at the charming Beach House in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos. Our week was spent doing absolutely nothing! I felt like we turned into water zombies. Floating in the warm turquoise waters, watching the clouds above with nothing substantial or meaningful in our heads. I was able to leave all the stress and anxiety of reality boxed up in a tiny section in the back of my brain. It was a much needed mental reboot.
Every room is assigned a name, not a number. Ours was Cherish. You are also assigned your own beach beds for your entire stay. No need to get up early and stake your claim.
Located next to a huge conch farm, Da Conch Shack is an absolute must. A restaurant and rum bar in the sand feet from the water. Sit at the picnic tables and watch men submerge from the ocean with giant conch shells and head straight to the kitchen.
Surprising to me, Turks and Caicos have the 3rd largest reef in the world behind Australia's Great Barrier Reef and Belize. If you're into diving, this is the place.
We opted for a half-day snorkel cruise with Caicos Dream Tours. We actually got to hunt for our own conch (touristy, I know but still fun). Once we found enough large ones, we were treated to a fresh conch salad with plenty of beer and rum punch to wash it down with.
We had a very tiny rental car on this trip. We anticipated driving around the island, beach hopping like we did in Barbados. We ended up not using it very much because we were already on the very best strip of beach in Providenciales.
Just up the beach from us, past the bar Somewhere, is the mega monster resort, Beaches. It looked horrid!! I'm sure the resort itself was nice, maybe, but the throngs of people with painful sunburns and their screaming children all fighting for spots on their cheap plastic lounge chairs, had us picking up the pace to get to the next section of beach. We did venture over towards the marina for chicken and rib night at The Tiki Hut. We made it a rule that every meal had to be feet from the water and this was within the rules. We also drove toGrace Bay Club to have dinner at theInfinity Bar. A beautiful, swanky bar but make sure you get there before the sun sets or you won't be able to appreciate the coolness of the actual infinity bar and beach view. Also, bring your cell phone with your flashlight app or else you will be walking over to the fire pit to read the menu once the sun does set.
